District Data Coordinator

 

This position is on a 227 day (11 month) work calendar, with vacation, sick and personal days provided. Salary will be determined based on years of job-related experience, certifications and college credit hours and/or highest degree earned.

 

Purpose Statement

The job of District Data Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of designing, configuring, installing, maintaining, and repairing District Data Management Systems, specifically responsible for ensuring the functioning of Grade Book (through Infinite Campus) and Destiny Databases (catalog of District physical resources). The job works with both the Technology Department and Educational Services Department, ensuring integration of programs across all platforms, providing information, direction and/or recommendations regarding program installations and configurations; resolving operational issues; and providing technical support to district and site staff.

 

This job reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services and the Director of Technology.

 

Previous Experience

Job-related experience required; applicants with technology and education background and have experience with SQL or similar coding experiences preferred. Bachelor's degree in related technology or education field desired.

 

Essential Functions

  • Administers systems and servers related to District data management systems (e.g. Clever, Infinite Campus, Grade Book, Powerschool, Final Site/Parentlink) for the purpose of ensuring availability of services to authorized users.
  • Develops computerized solutions (e.g. customizing and/or designing electronic documents, creating and/or updating user databases, specialized queries, etc.) for the purpose of providing users with information customized to their specific needs.
  • Installs and maintains instructional software applications (e.g. E-Learning, Grade Book, Clever and textbook software, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date resources for classroom use.
  • Exports, imports and integrates data through a variety of management systems (utilizing SQL, SSIS, etc) for the purpose of record keeping, complying with state mandated reporting requirements, and maintaining compliance with established guidelines.
  • Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. administrators, district staff, database administrator, computer technicians, users, etc) to generate, maintain and interpret reports in SSRS, for the purpose of providing and receiving information to ensure continuous program capabilities.
  • Provides ongoing reports, access and assistance for building administrators and school leaders to access data to support school improvement efforts and initiatives. 
  • Facilitates Grade Book management integration across the District, through  initial Grade Book set up, organizing Grade Book management teams, intentional onboarding, on-the-job training and implementation oversight.
  • Monitors a variety of data management systems (most specifically Grade Book, Edgenuity, Blackboard Learn, Google Classroom) for the purpose of ensuring that District systems are secure, functioning properly and resources are used effectively.
  • Researches a variety of technology topics (e.g. trends, software, network designs, etc.) for the purpose of recommending district procedures and/or purchases.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. staff, administrators, school site personnel, outside vendors and service providers, etc.) for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support.
  • Responds as a backup support for the SIS Administrator

Other Functions

  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

 

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records including developing and maintaining time estimates and schedules; building servers and network security; vendor relations; supervising project groups; and using pertinent software applications.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current generation and legacy application programming languages; system design; process and data modeling techniques; database theory, technologies and tools, benefits and limitations of technology; and project management.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities; communicating effectively with persons of varied technical background; meeting deadlines and schedules; and working with frequent interruptions.
