This position is an average either 2 or 3-Days/week position with a set calendar on working and non-working days. 

 

Must hold a valid Missouri Speech Language Pathologist Certificate or hold a valid license through the Missouri State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.  This position is paid on the teaching salary schedule, but pays into the PEERS retirement system.

Purpose Statement

The job of Speech Language Pathologist is done for the purpose of identifying students with communication

disorders; and planning and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student

success.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tastks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing conflick resolution techniques; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; planning and managing projects; and preparing and maintaining accurate records; analyzing data; applying curriculum and instructional techniques; comparing results; and facilitating meetings.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.  Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms and disorders; principles and practices of speech and language therapy; and pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; concepts of grammar and punctuality.

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; providing information and/or advising others;  utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

    

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling,  some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 30% sitting, 30% walking, and 40% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

    

Experience:  Job related experience within a specialized field is required.

 

Education:  Masters degree in job-related area.
